Our dentists and team take dental X-rays as part of your routine exams to diagnose problems and to plan your treatments. These images provide Dr. Brett Barney, Dr. Jonathan Hall and Dr. Aaron Charpentier with important information about your oral health and smile and help us ensure that your care is tailored to your exact needs.
Here at Desert Dental Group, we use digital X-rays to capture images of your teeth and supporting structures. Digital radiography has changed the way that dental X-rays are taken, making the imaging process faster, more comfortable, more convenient and safer. Rather than using film, a digital x-ray will use a small digital sensor to captures images of your teeth. These sensors use significantly less radiation than a film X-ray device, and they do not require the use of any chemicals to develop and view the image. Instead, the captured X-rays are projected almost instantly onto nearby monitors, giving us the ability to provide you with efficient, accurate diagnoses and treatments.
Digital X-rays are commonly used to diagnose and identify a number of dental issues, including:
- Tooth decay, including decay between the teeth
- Developmental abnormalities
- Improper tooth root positioning
- Cysts, abscesses and tumors
- Infection in the tooth nerves
- Loss of supporting bone tissue
Our dentists also use X-rays to plan your care when you are receiving treatments such as oral surgery procedures, root canals, dental implant placement, orthodontics and more.
